St. Croix 2020 - Will You Join Us Next Year?

If you have been following our adventures on social media, you know we just returned from our first dive trip to St. Croix. For those of you who couldn't make it, boy did you miss a good time😀. We will be heading back next year so here is a recap of the visit. In short, the shops were excellent, the food was amazing, and the locals were a blast! We even got to hit an outdoor concert with Mama's Black Sheep.

Boat Dive with Nep2une
St. Croix is one of the Top 10 places to shore dive, according to Scuba Diving Magazine. Out of the entire week, we only did one boat dive, which we could have done as a shore dive but it was a mighty far surface swim.

At the top of our list, was Cane Bay. This is a beautiful bay and a great dive. We went deep to see some old anchors (approx 95ft) then slowly surfaced the wall. On our return, we saw the resident sea turtle asleep under a ledge. If you dive Cane Bay, check out Sweet Bottom Dive Shop. There you can grab gear, tanks, and weights, then a short walk to the water. Afterward, don't forget to grab a Lime in a Coconut at Leatherback Brewing Company.

Our first dive was amazing at the Frederiksted Pier. This is what diving in St. Croix means. If you love turtles, octopus, sea horses, and an easy shore dive, this was it. Check out this great video of our night dive with turtles.  This dive may have been my favorite thanks to the folks at Adventures in Diving, St. Croix.

Andrea and Mitch were so welcoming, and they brought out the whole gang. There were some 20 divers out for our first night to welcome us to the island. Diving is a small world, Andrea and Mitch used to work with the owner of our local dive shop in Fort Myers, FL, Scubavice Dive Center.

Thanks to Greg at Latitude 17, we were able to dive an exclusive dive location, pretty much off-limits since IRMA and MARIA,  for now, it can only be done with a guide.  During the reef and wall dive we had 3 reef sharks come to check us out.

When you dive in St. Croix, with ReefBox, you are treated like a local. Our only boat dive was courtesy of Nep2une Scuba Diving and we dove the wrecks of Butler Bay. After a week of shore diving, the concierge service from Ne2une was a welcome break. When you check-in, be sure to pet Deco, the shop mascot.

Trip Swag
A special shout out to Triton's Realm for the great pictures and videos. When you dive with them, there is no need to bring a camera. If it is there, Jeff will get an amazing photo of it. Also want to give a shout out to CRABBS, the local dive club for welcoming us. Thanks to Tracy & Dean, for showing us a good time. And, thank you to our conservation partner, the Sea Turtle Census for giving us a reason to visit.

The cost of the trip will be the same $1499 per person double occupancy. You will need to put down a 25% deposit ($375) and then pay the remainder over the next 10 months by a monthly auto-debit (approx. $112 per month).

Stay tuned as we head off on our next adventure to Key Largo in March to Plant some Coral.
Happy Diving
